About BS EN Standards
BS EN Standards are British Standards that adopt European Standards for use in the United Kingdom. In the cable and electrical industry, BS EN standards define requirements for products such as conductors, power cables, insulation systems, and electrical materials, covering areas including dimensions, electrical performance, mechanical properties, testing, and safety. Many BS EN standards are identical or closely aligned with corresponding EN and IEC standards. For example, the current BS EN IEC 60228:2024 specifies conductor sizes, wire requirements, and resistance values for copper, aluminium, and aluminium-alloy conductors.
