ACAR Aluminium Conductor Alloy Reinforced
ACAR conductor combines electrical-grade aluminium wires with aluminium-alloy reinforcing wires in one concentric conductor. It provides a selectable balance between conductivity and mechanical strength without using a steel core. The arrangement and proportion of the two aluminium materials must follow the specified standard construction and project design.

Product Overview
ACAR uses 1350 aluminium for the principal current-carrying wires and aluminium alloy, commonly 6201-type material in standard constructions, for reinforcement. The alloy wires may be arranged in the inner part of the conductor or distributed according to the approved strand design.
Changing the number of aluminium and alloy wires changes resistance, rated strength, mass and sag behaviour. ACAR should therefore be selected from a complete construction table rather than treated as a fixed midpoint between AAC and ACSR. Hardware and stringing calculations must use the exact finished conductor.

From Production to Delivery
From raw material preparation to final shipment, every stage is carefully controlled to ensure consistent conductor quality, reliable performance, and safe delivery. Production
1350-H19 aluminium and 6201-type alloy wires are prepared separately and assembled in the approved core or distributed-layer arrangement.
Inspection
Inspection confirms the two wire materials, strand counts, diameters, finished geometry and values assigned to the exact IEC or ASTM construction.
Packaging
ACAR is wound under controlled tension to maintain the designed distribution of aluminium and alloy wires and protect the surface.
Shipping
Drum markings and shipping documents identify the governing standard and material combination to avoid substitution during delivery.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are the reinforcing alloy wires located in an ACAR conductor?
Their position depends on the approved construction. They may form the central reinforcing section or be arranged with 1350 aluminium wires according to the standard strand design; the exact table governs supply.
Is ACAR simply an ACSR conductor with the steel removed?
No. ACAR is designed around two aluminium-based wire materials and specific strand combinations. Its electrical and mechanical values must be taken from an ACAR construction, not recalculated by deleting the ACSR steel core.
How is the required ACAR strength-conductivity balance specified?
State the governing standard and construction or provide the required resistance, rated strength, diameter, mass and loading criteria. Engineering can then review an available strand combination.
What must be checked before replacing ACSR with ACAR?
Compare resistance, diameter, mass, rated strength, modulus, thermal expansion, sag-tension, clearances and fittings. The absence of a steel core changes both mechanical behaviour and installation requirements.
Does ACAR require different compression fittings?
Potentially yes. Fitting material, sleeve design, die sequence and compression length must be approved for the exact arrangement of 1350 aluminium and reinforcing alloy wires.
Which documents should be requested with an ACAR shipment?
Request the approved data sheet, routine or acceptance test records as specified, drum schedule, packing list and material traceability documents required by the contract.
