AS/NZS 1125 Unarmoured Multicore Control Cable 0.6/1kV

AS/NZS 1125 Unarmoured Multicore Control Cable is a 0.6/1kV XLPE-insulated, PVC-sheathed copper control cable built around stranded plain annealed copper conductors in 10 mm², 16 mm² and 25 mm² sizes. The listed conductor constructions are 7/1.35 mm, 7/1.70 mm and 7/2.14 mm respectively, combined with XLPE X-90 insulation and PVC 5V-90 outer sheath in three-core and four-core configurations. The product is intended for fixed control circuits in commercial, industrial, mining and utility installations where conductor resistance, reliable multicore assembly and unarmoured construction are appropriate for the installation environment.

Reading the Conductor Designations

The designation 7/1.35 indicates seven copper wires of 1.35 mm nominal wire diameter stranded to form the listed 10 mm² conductor. The same notation applies to 7/1.70 for 16 mm² and 7/2.14 for 25 mm². As nominal conductor area increases, the listed conductor resistance falls, supporting higher current capacity and lower voltage drop.

25 mm²

Electrical Performance

The 25 mm² conductor provides the lowest listed resistance of the three sizes, with maximum d.c. resistance of 0.727 Ω/km at 20°C and maximum a.c. resistance of 0.927 Ω/km at 90°C. By comparison, the 10 mm² conductor is listed at 1.83 Ω/km d.c. and 2.33 Ω/km a.c. This reduction in resistance is reflected in lower voltage drop and higher current ratings as conductor size increases.

Typical Applications

  • Commercial control circuits.
  • Industrial plant control systems.
  • Mining fixed control circuits.
  • Utility and electricity-authority installations.
  • Conduit systems.
  • Direct burial where mechanical damage is not expected.
  • Underground ducts.
  • Unenclosed fixed installation.

From Production to Delivery

From raw material preparation to final shipmen, every stage is caretuly controled to ensure consistent conductor quality, reliable pertormance, and sae delivery. Our roduction,
inspection, packaging, and logistics processes are managed in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements.

cable production line with finished cable being wound onto a reel

Production

Plain annealed copper conductors are stranded to the specified construction, insulated with XLPE X-90, laid up into the required three-core or four-core configuration and finished with a PVC 5V-90 outer sheath. Conductor size, insulation thickness and overall cable dimensions follow the approved design.

Cable and conductor quality inspection and testing

Inspection

Inspection focuses on conductor construction, insulation condition, core identification, sheath quality, overall dimensions and electrical performance. Conductor resistance and dimensional checks are verified against the approved technical schedule before release.

Overhead conductors packed on wooden drums for shipment

Packaging

Finished cables are wound onto suitable drums according to ordered size and length. Cable ends are secured and protected, while drum identification can include cable type, conductor size, core count, length and project reference.

Wooden drums of overhead conductors loaded into shipping container

Shipping

Before shipment, cable drums and accompanying documents are checked against the order and packing list. Product identification, inspection records and technical documentation can be prepared according to customer and project requirements.
