IEC 60502-1 CVV Control Cable 600V
IEC 60502-1 referenced CVV Control Cable is a multicore copper control cable with vinyl insulation and a black vinyl sheath for supervisory electrical equipment, station control circuits and fixed industrial control wiring. The listed range covers 1.25-22 mm² conductors and 2-30 cores, including conventional stranded and selected compacted-conductor constructions.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
CVV Control Cable uses circular or compacted circular stranded annealed copper conductors, a suitable separator where required, vinyl insulation and a black vinyl outer sheath. Optional non-hygroscopic filler and polyester (Mylar) binding tape can be included according to the cable construction.
The product is intended for supervisory electrical equipment, station control circuits and outdoor installations, including dry or wet cable trenches. The source data lists a maximum conductor temperature of 90°C, a circuit voltage not exceeding 600V and a 2000V test voltage.

STANDARD REFERENCE & COMPLIANCE
Item | Details |
Referenced Standard | IEC 60502-1 |
Current Edition | IEC 60502-1:2021 |
Product Rating | Control cable for circuits up to 600V |
Compliance Note | IEC 60502-1 is referenced in the product specification. For projects requiring edition-specific compliance, please confirm the required voltage designation and test documentation before approval. |
IEC 60502-1 is used as the reference standard for this CVV control-cable product family. Project requirements may specify a particular edition, voltage designation or approval package, so customers requiring formal edition-specific compliance should state these requirements during technical review or quotation.
CONVENTIONAL VS COMPACTED CONDUCTOR OPTIONS
For selected larger conductor sizes, the technical schedule includes both conventional stranded and compacted-conductor versions. The compacted options use a smaller conductor diameter and, in many listed constructions, a smaller finished cable diameter and lower cable weight.
For example, the 2-core 14 mm² construction is listed with a 4.8 mm conductor diameter and 19.0 mm overall diameter for the 7/1.6 version, compared with a 4.4 mm conductor diameter and 18.0 mm overall diameter for the compacted version. This can be useful when installation space or cable diameter is an important selection factor.
PRODUCT APPLICATIONS
- Supervisory electrical equipment.
- Station control circuits.
- Industrial control panels and fixed control wiring.
- Outdoor installations as stated in the source data.
- Dry cable trenches.
- Wet cable trenches.
- Multicore control systems requiring vinyl-insulated and vinyl-sheathed construction.

From Production to Delivery
From raw material preparation to final shipmen, every stage is caretuly controled to ensure consistent conductor quality, reliable pertormance, and sae delivery. Our roduction,
inspection, packaging, and logistics processes are managed in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements.
Production
Annealed copper conductors are stranded or compacted to the required construction, insulated with vinyl, assembled into the specified multicore configuration, optionally filled and bound with polyester tape, and finished with the black vinyl sheath.
Inspection
Inspection focuses on conductor construction, insulation condition, core identification, sheath integrity, overall diameter, maximum DC conductor resistance and test-voltage requirements against the approved technical schedule.
Packaging
Finished cable is wound on suitable drums according to ordered size, weight and length. Cable ends are protected and drum identification can include cable type, conductor size, core count, length and project reference.
Shipping
Before shipment, cable drums and technical documents are checked against the order. Inspection records, identification data and requested test documents can be prepared for project approval.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are both conventional and compacted conductors listed for some sizes?
Compacted conductors reduce the conductor diameter for the same nominal cross section. In the listed schedule this often reduces finished cable diameter and cable weight as well, which can help where gland size, conduit space or cable-tray loading is limited. The compacted option should still be confirmed against the project conductor and termination requirements.
How do I select the right core count and conductor size?
Start with the number of control functions and any spare-core requirement, then select the conductor cross section from the electrical design. Check maximum DC resistance for the circuit length and verify the finished cable diameter against gland, tray and trench space. For larger sizes, also compare conventional and compacted conductor options.
When is CVV a better choice than an XLPE-insulated control cable?
CVV is appropriate when the project specification calls for the traditional vinyl-insulated and vinyl-sheathed control-cable construction. If higher thermal performance, a different installation environment or another project standard is required, an XLPE-insulated alternative such as CCV should be reviewed instead. The final choice should be based on the actual tender specification rather than the product name alone.
What should I confirm if the project specifies IEC 60502-1?
First confirm the exact IEC edition and the required U0/U voltage class. The source data references IEC 60502-1 and states a circuit voltage not exceeding 600V, but it does not explicitly write the full IEC voltage designation. For formal approval, ask the manufacturer to confirm the applicable test basis and provide edition-specific technical documents.
Can this CVV cable be used outdoors or in cable trenches?
Yes. The product data lists outdoor installations and both dry and wet cable trenches as intended applications. For a real project, the route should still be checked for mechanical protection, water exposure, termination method and any additional sheath or installation requirements.
