IEC 60502-1 CVV SB Copper Wire Braid Screened Control Cable 600V
IEC 60502-1 referenced CVV SB Screened Control Cable is a multicore copper control cable with PVC insulation, an overall copper-wire braid screen and a black PVC outer sheath. It is intended for control circuits requiring electrostatic shielding in underground ducts, conduit and open-air industrial installations.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
CVV SB Screened Control Cable uses stranded annealed copper conductors insulated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The insulated cores are assembled with optional non-hygroscopic filler and optional polyester (Mylar) binding tape, then surrounded by a copper-wire braid screen and protected by a black PVC outer sheath.
The braided metallic screen is the defining feature of this construction. It is used where control circuits require an overall electrostatic screen while retaining a multicore PVC-insulated cable construction. The source data lists a maximum conductor temperature of 90°C, a circuit voltage not exceeding 600V and a 3500V test voltage.

WHY CVV SB USES A COPPER-WIRE BRAID SCREEN
Copper-wire braid provides an overall metallic screen around the multicore assembly. In control and instrumentation practice, braid is commonly chosen where a flexible screen is desired around the cable core and the route may involve bends, handling or panel terminations.
Actual shielding performance depends on braid coverage and how the screen is terminated. The source product data does not state braid coverage or a grounding method, so EMC-critical projects should confirm those details before approval.
PRODUCT APPLICATIONS
- Control circuits requiring electrostatic shielding.
- Underground duct installations.
- Conduit installations.
- Open-air industrial control wiring.
- Supervisory and station-control circuits requiring a braid-screened multicore cable.
- Control-panel and field-control circuits routed near electrically noisy equipment.

From Production to Delivery
From raw material preparation to final shipmen, every stage is caretuly controled to ensure consistent conductor quality, reliable pertormance, and sae delivery. Our roduction,
inspection, packaging, and logistics processes are managed in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements.
Production
Stranded annealed copper conductors are insulated with PVC, assembled into the required multicore configuration, optionally filled and bound with polyester tape, screened with copper-wire braid and finished with the black PVC outer sheath.
Inspection
Inspection focuses on conductor construction, PVC insulation, core identification, braid condition and continuity, sheath integrity, overall diameter, conductor resistance and test-voltage requirements.
Packaging
Finished cable is wound on suitable drums according to ordered size, weight and length. Cable ends are protected and drum identification can include cable type, conductor size, core count, length and project reference.
Shipping
Before shipment, cable drums and technical documents are checked against the order. Inspection records, product identification and requested test documents can be prepared for project approval.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I choose copper-wire-braid screened CVV SB instead of copper-tape screened CVVS?
Choose CVV SB when the project specifically calls for a braided copper screen or when a more flexible screen construction is preferred around the multicore assembly. Copper-tape and copper-braid screens are not automatically interchangeable, because their coverage, flexibility and termination methods differ. For EMC-sensitive projects, confirm the specified screen type before quotation.
Is CVV SB suitable for underground ducts and conduit?
Yes. The product data specifically lists underground ducts, conduit and open-air applications. For installation planning, check the finished cable diameter against conduit fill, pulling space, bend conditions and termination dimensions.
How do I choose the correct conductor size and core count?
Start with the number of control functions and any spare-core allowance, then select conductor size according to circuit length, resistance and load requirements. After electrical selection, verify the finished diameter and cable weight against glands, conduit, tray capacity and handling constraints.
What information should I provide for an accurate quotation?
Provide conductor size, number of cores, required length, installation environment and whether copper-wire braid screening is mandatory. Also state the IEC documentation requirement, any flame-retardant requirement, cable marking, packing length and project approval documents. For tender projects, attaching the technical specification helps avoid offering the wrong screen type or voltage basis.
