UL 1277 FR-XLPE Thermoset CPE Jacket Control Cable 600V
UL 1277 FR-XLPE Thermoset CPE Jacket Control Cable is a silicone-free 600V multi-conductor control cable with Class B compressed bare-copper conductors, flame-retardant XLPE insulation and a thermoset chlorinated-polyethylene (CPE) outer jacket. It is designed for industrial tray/control circuits requiring robust thermal performance and wet/dry installation capability.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The cable uses 7-strand Class B compressed bare-copper conductors with FR-XLPE insulation and a thermoset CPE overall jacket. Polypropylene filler is used for constructions with five or fewer conductors, while cables with more than five conductors use a polyester flat-thread binder tape. A rip cord is included to simplify jacket removal.
The product is rated 600V and is intended for wet and dry areas, conduits, ducts, troughs, trays, direct burial and aerial routes supported by a messenger. The source lists conductor-temperature limits of 90°C for normal operation, 130°C for emergency overload and 250°C for short-circuit conditions. UL-rated constructions may be used in Class I, II and III, Division 2 hazardous locations, and UL-rated constructions with three or more conductors are stated as listed for exposed runs (TC-ER).

THERMOSET CPE JACKET - WHAT IS DIFFERENT?
This product is specifically identified with a thermoset chlorinated-polyethylene (CPE) jacket. That distinguishes it from the previously reviewed CPE-jacket products that did not explicitly call out the jacket as thermoset in the product name. For procurement, the jacket designation should be kept in the product title because it is part of the construction being offered.
The source does not provide a separate comparative property table between thermoset CPE and other CPE formulations. Therefore, this page does not add unsupported claims about oil resistance, chemical resistance or mechanical superiority beyond what the source explicitly supports.
PRODUCT APPLICATIONS

From Production to Delivery
From raw material preparation to final shipmen, every stage is caretuly controled to ensure consistent conductor quality, reliable pertormance, and sae delivery. Our roduction,
inspection, packaging, and logistics processes are managed in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements.
Production
Class B compressed bare-copper conductors are prepared, insulated with FR-XLPE, assembled with polypropylene filler or polyester binder according to core count, fitted with the rip cord and finished with the thermoset CPE jacket.
Inspection
Inspection focuses on conductor construction, insulation/jacket thickness, overall diameter, conductor/cable weight, DC and AC resistance, bending-radius data, cable marking and project-specified test documentation.
Packaging
Finished cable is wound on reels or drums suitable for its diameter, weight and ordered length. Product identification can include conductor size, core count, standard reference, length and project number.
Shipping
Before shipment, cable marking, packing, inspection records and requested standard/test documents are checked against the approved order and project requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I specify the thermoset CPE version rather than another CPE-jacket control cable?
Specify this version when the project or buyer explicitly calls for the thermoset CPE jacket construction shown in the product data. The FR-XLPE insulation, compressed copper conductor and Type TC application remain important, but the exact jacket designation can affect the approved construction and project submittal. Do not substitute another CPE formulation without technical confirmation.
What should I verify if TC-ER is required?
The source states that UL-rated constructions with three or more conductors are listed for exposed runs. For procurement, confirm that the exact conductor size and core count being offered carries the required TC-ER marking/listing rather than relying only on the family description.
Can this cable be used in hazardous locations?
The source states that UL-rated constructions can be used in Class I, II and III, Division 2 hazardous locations. The complete installation also depends on cable marking, fittings, seals, wiring method and the governing NEC/project requirements, so cable and installation should be reviewed together.
How should I use the 60°C, 75°C and 90°C ampacity columns?
Select the column that matches the allowable conductor/termination temperature for the project, then apply any required derating for ambient temperature, grouping and installation conditions. The table values are product data and should be used together with the governing electrical-code calculation.
Why is there an 18 AWG entry but only one construction?
The source product table lists only one 18 AWG construction: 20 conductors. No other 18 AWG core counts are provided, so this page does not extrapolate additional sizes.
What products do you supply for the power cable industry?
We provide a wide range of cable materials and electrical products, including aluminum conductors, aluminum rods, aluminum wires, overhead conductors, medium and low voltage power cables, cable insulation materials, filling materials, shielding materials, and cable manufacturing consumables. We provide customized solutions according to different cable manufacturing requirements.
