UL 1277 CU PE PVC Insulation PVC Jacket Control Cable 600V
UL 1277 CU PE/PVC Insulation PVC Jacket Control Cable is a 600V multi-conductor industrial control cable with Class B compressed bare-copper conductors, a dual-layer polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride insulation system, and a PVC overall jacket. It is intended for wet and dry industrial control circuits where tray-cable construction, stable electrical performance and practical PVC protection are required.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The cable uses 7-strand Class B compressed bare-copper conductors. Each conductor is insulated with 20 mil polyethylene (PE) plus 10 mil polyvinyl chloride (PVC), giving a 30 mil combined insulation thickness. Polypropylene filler is used on cables with five or fewer conductors, while cables with more than five conductors use a polyester flat-thread binder tape. A rip cord is included for easier jacket removal, and the assembly is finished with a PVC overall jacket.
The supplied product data lists 600V service in wet and dry areas, conduits, ducts, troughs, trays, direct-burial routes and messenger-supported aerial installations. It states maximum conductor temperatures of 90°C for normal operation, 130°C for emergency overload and 250°C for short-circuit conditions. Any required TC-ER, hazardous-location, direct-burial or other listing must be confirmed on the exact offered cable documentation.

WHY PE PVC INSULATION
The defining construction feature is the dual-layer PE/PVC insulation system. The source specifies 20 mil polyethylene plus 10 mil polyvinyl chloride on every listed conductor size. PE provides the inner insulation layer, while PVC forms the outer insulation layer; the combined schedule is shown as 30 mil in the technical table.
The overall cable jacket is also PVC, but it is a separate protective layer outside the assembled conductors. The conductor insulation and the overall jacket must therefore be described independently in quotations, drawings and production documents.

From Production to Delivery
From raw material preparation to final shipmen, every stage is caretuly controled to ensure consistent conductor quality, reliable pertormance, and sae delivery. Our roduction,
inspection, packaging, and logistics processes are managed in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements.
Production
Class B compressed bare-copper conductors are prepared, insulated with PE and PVC in the stated layer thicknesses, assembled with polypropylene filler or polyester binder according to conductor count, fitted with the rip cord and finished with the PVC overall jacket.
Inspection
Inspection focuses on conductor construction, insulation and jacket thickness, overall diameter, conductor and cable weight, DC and AC resistance, bending-radius data, cable marking and project-specified test documentation.
Packaging
Finished cable is wound on reels or drums suitable for its diameter, weight and ordered length. Product identification can include conductor size, core count, standard reference, length and project number.
Shipping
Before shipment, cable marking, packing, inspection records and requested standard or test documents are checked against the order and project approval requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is PE PVC insulation in this cable
Each conductor uses two insulation materials in sequence: 20 mil polyethylene and 10 mil polyvinyl chloride. The schedule therefore shows a 30 mil combined insulation thickness. This dual-layer conductor insulation is separate from the PVC overall jacket.
What should I verify when UL 1277 compliance is required
Confirm the UL file or listing evidence, cable marking and exact AWG and core-count construction offered. If the project also requires TC-ER, direct burial, wet-location or hazardous-location use, those ratings should appear in the applicable documentation or marking rather than being assumed from the product family name.
Can this cable be used in hazardous locations
Use in a hazardous location depends on the exact cable listing and marking together with the installation method, fittings, seals and governing electrical code. Confirm the complete approval package for the ordered construction before specifying this application.
How should the 60°C 75°C and 90°C ampacity columns be used
Use the column permitted by the conductor and termination temperature rating, then apply the code-required corrections for ambient temperature, grouping and installation conditions. The product table is not a substitute for the governing electrical-design calculation.
Which conductor identification method applies
The product description states Method 1 Table 1 and cites ICEA S-58-679. State the required colour or numbering schedule in the inquiry so the production identification method can be confirmed before manufacture.
Why are some source rows not repeated in the clean schedule
The supplied source includes exact duplicate rows and visibly malformed or conflicting entries. The clean schedule retains one usable row for each published AWG and core-count combination and flags the source issue for internal confirmation before quotation.
