AAAC/S Covered Conductor
AAAC/S XLPE covered conductor uses an all-aluminium-alloy core, a semiconductive conductor layer and an extruded XLPE covering for 12/20 kV overhead distribution to SPLN 41-10. The construction combines the mechanical capability of aluminium alloy with a defined medium-voltage electrical interface. AMPO supplies the listed conductor sizes, project reel lengths and related clamps, connectors and insulators for new pole routes or line upgrades, with the AAAC/S designation and layer construction kept clear in the technical offer.
Product Overview
The aluminium-alloy conductor performs both the electrical and mechanical roles of the metallic core. A semiconductive conductor layer is applied over the strands before the XLPE covering, creating the defined electrical interface and finished diameter used for insulator, clamp and connector selection. This structure differs from bare AAAC because it includes the semiconductive layer and XLPE covering.
AAAC/S is an overhead covered conductor rather than a conventional screened underground MV cable. It does not use the complete metallic-screen and outer-sheath system associated with screened power cable, so the overhead line continues to rely on clearances, insulators, fittings and operating procedures. Selection should state SPLN 41-10, system voltage, conductor size, route and mechanical conditions, required fittings and documentation.
Key Features
- All-aluminium-alloy core:The all-aluminium-alloy core supplies both electrical conduction and useful tensile strength without steel reinforcement, benefiting overhead designs that value lower mass and an all-aluminium corrosion profile.
- Semiconductive conductor layer:A semiconductive conductor layer smooths the electrical interface around the stranded core before XLPE is applied, forming the defined layer sequence shown in the SPLN construction.
- XLPE covering:The extruded XLPE covering provides the dielectric layer for the listed 12/20 kV overhead design while determining the finished diameter used for insulator, clamp and connector selection.
- SPLN size-specific data:corresponding technical rows retain size-specific dimensions, resistance, current and mechanical data, allowing buyers to compare the actual AAAC/S construction and prepare a quotation around the scheduled conductor size.
Product Applications
- 12/20 kV overhead distribution networks using the SPLN 41-10 AAAC/S construction
- Utility line upgrades that require an aluminium-alloy covered conductor with a semiconductive conductor layer and XLPE covering
- Pole-line systems using insulators, clamps and connectors selected for the AAAC/S finished diameter and mechanical duty

From Production to Delivery
From raw material preparation to final shipmen, every stage is caretuly controled to ensure consistent conductor quality, reliable pertormance, and sae delivery. Our roduction, inspection, packaging, and logistics processes are managed in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements.
Production
Aluminium-alloy wires are stranded to the scheduled conductor construction, a semiconductive layer is extruded around the core, and the specified XLPE covering is then applied to form the 12/20 kV product.
Inspection
Inspection verifies alloy and stranding, conductor resistance, semiconductive and XLPE layer thicknesses, surface and finished dimensions, plus the electrical or mechanical tests stated in the SPLN purchase specification.
Packaging
The single-core covered conductor is wound on reels that protect its XLPE surface and bend limits, with end protection and delivery lengths arranged around the customer’s overhead stringing sections.
Shipping
Drum markings identify AAAC/S, voltage, conductor size, SPLN reference, length and production batch, helping site teams distinguish the product from bare AAAC and other covered-conductor constructions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly does the AAAC/S designation mean?
AAAC/S refers to the SPLN 41-10 covered-conductor construction using a stranded aluminium-alloy conductor, a semiconductive conductor layer and an XLPE covering for 12/20 kV overhead distribution.
Why might I choose AAAC/S rather than an AAC-based conductor?
The aluminium-alloy core provides a different balance of tensile strength, conductivity, mass and sag. Send us your required size and line-mechanical conditions; we can present the listed AAAC/S data for comparison and prepare the offer against the utility construction selected by your engineer.
Is AAAC/S the same as a screened 12/20 kV power cable?
No. AAAC/S is an overhead covered conductor, not a conventional screened 12/20 kV power cable. It does not use the complete metallic-screen and outer-sheath construction normally associated with screened MV cables. The overhead system therefore relies on specified clearances, insulators, fittings and operating procedures.
Can you include clamps, connectors and insulators?
Related line accessories can be discussed once the conductor size, finished diameter, voltage and pole arrangement are available. We can list suitable options with the cable quotation for your technical review, keeping the product and hardware interfaces visible in one procurement package.
What documentation can be requested for AAAC/S?
Tell us the inspection and test records required by your utility or contract. We can state the requested documentation scope in the commercial offer and link it to the SPLN construction and conductor size, helping both parties plan the necessary records before production scheduling.
What should I send for an AAAC/S quotation?
Please provide the 12/20 kV system details, SPLN edition, conductor size, quantity, reel lengths, span and tension information, route environment, required accessories and inspection documents. If you have a utility schedule, attach it and we can use its terminology in the offer.
