AS/NZS 5000.1 Armoured Control Cable 0.6/1kV
AS/NZS 5000.1 Armoured Control Cable is a 0.6/1kV multicore-plus-earth cable designed for fixed control circuits in commercial, industrial, mining and utility installations where dependable electrical performance and mechanical protection are required. The cable uses plain annealed copper conductors, PVC V-90 insulation, PVC bedding, galvanised steel wire armour and a PVC 5V-90 outer sheath. It is available in 1.5 mm² and 2.5 mm² conductor sizes with multicore constructions from 2C+E to 50C+E, and is suitable for unenclosed fixed installation, conduit, direct burial and underground ducts.
Product Overview
This armoured control cable is intended for fixed low-voltage control and auxiliary circuits where the cable may be exposed to mechanical stress during installation or service. The multicore-plus-earth construction supports complex control systems with multiple circuits in a single cable, while the galvanised steel wire armour provides a protective layer around the laid-up insulated cores.
The product range is built around two copper conductor sizes. The 1.5 mm² series uses a 7/0.50 mm conductor construction and the 2.5 mm² series uses 7/0.67 mm. Both series use 0.8 mm nominal core insulation, with matching earth-conductor sections and progressively larger armour wire diameters as the cable size increases.
How the Construction Changes Across the Range
The cable construction is scaled according to conductor area and core count. Nominal core-insulation thickness remains 0.8 mm across the listed range, while earth-conductor insulation is 0.6 mm for the 1.5 mm² series and 0.7 mm for the 2.5 mm² series. As the number of cores increases, the diameter over bedding, armour wire diameter, overall cable diameter and cable mass also increase.
Armour wire diameter ranges from 0.90 mm to 1.60 mm in the 1.5 mm² series and from 0.90 mm to 2.00 mm in the 2.5 mm² series. This makes the armour specification an important part of cable selection, particularly for large multicore constructions.

From Production to Delivery
From raw material preparation to final shipmen, every stage is caretuly controled to ensure consistent conductor quality, reliable pertormance, and sae delivery. Our roduction,
inspection, packaging, and logistics processes are managed in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements.
Production
Plain annealed copper conductors are insulated with PVC V-90, assembled with the required earth conductor, bedded, armoured with galvanised steel wire and finished with a PVC 5V-90 outer sheath. Conductor size, core count, insulation thickness and armour diameter are produced according to the approved cable design.
Inspection
Inspection focuses on conductor construction, insulation and sheath condition, armour integrity, overall dimensions and electrical performance against the approved technical schedule. Key dimensional parameters such as insulation thickness, diameter over bedding, armour wire diameter and overall cable diameter are checked before release.
Packaging
Finished armoured control cables are wound onto suitable cable drums according to ordered cable size and length. Cable ends are secured and protected, while drum identification can include cable type, conductor size, core configuration, length and project reference for shipment traceability.
Shipping
Before shipment, cable drums and accompanying technical documents are checked against the order and packing list. Delivery can be arranged for international project shipments with the required product identification, inspection records and technical documentation prepared according to customer and project requirements.
