BS 5266-1 Emergency Lighting Fire Resistant Screened Control Cable is a 300/500V mica-and-silicone-rubber insulated, overall-screened LSZH cable intended for emergency-lighting circuits in premises. Its fire-resistant construction, overall screen and low-smoke zero-halogen sheath support control and supply circuits where continued operation during fire conditions is a key project requirement.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
This 300/500V fire-resistant overall-screened control cable combines plain annealed copper conductors with a mica-glass fire-resistant tape and fire-resistant silicone-rubber insulation, an aluminum/polyester overall screen with tinned-copper drain wire, and a low-smoke zero-halogen outer sheath. The construction is designed to maintain circuit integrity during fire conditions while also providing an overall screen for control and signalling circuits.
For emergency-lighting installations, the cable combines circuit-integrity capability with screened multicore construction. The 2-, 3- and 4-core versions include an uninsulated tinned-copper circuit protective conductor of the same section and class as the insulated conductors, while cables above four cores use a 0.5 mm² tinned-copper drain wire.

Production
Plain annealed copper conductors are prepared as solid Class 1 or stranded Class 2 constructions, wrapped with mica-glass fire-resistant tape, insulated with fire-resistant silicone rubber, cabled with fillers, screened with aluminum/polyester tape and a tinned-copper drain wire, then finished with the specified LSZH sheath.
Inspection
Inspection focuses on circuit-protective conductor / drain-wire arrangement, screen continuity, mica and silicone-rubber insulation, LSZH sheath integrity, dielectric test, insulation resistance and specified fire-performance documentation.
Packaging
Finished cables are wound onto suitable drums according to ordered size and length. Cable ends are secured and protected, and drum identification can include cable code, core count, conductor size, length and project reference.
Shipping
Before shipment, cable drums and accompanying technical documents are checked against the order and packing list. Test records, product identification and project documentation can be prepared according to customer requirements
