NF C 33-226 12/20 kV Screened MV Cable

NF C 33-226 12/20 kV screened MV cable uses a Class 2 stranded aluminium conductor, bonded conductor screen, XLPE insulation, peelable insulation screen, aluminium/PET metallic screen and PE outer sheath. It is available as individual single-core cable or as a three-core bunched construction for transformer-station connections, links between overhead lines and substations, and other fixed medium-voltage circuits installed in ducts, direct burial or free air.

Product Overview

The bonded conductor screen, XLPE insulation and grooved peelable insulation screen form the principal dielectric interfaces. Water-tightness powder is applied in the screen grooves, followed by the aluminium/PET metallic screen and protective PE sheath. These layers require termination, screen-earthing and accessory systems suitable for the conductor size, insulation diameter and installed cable arrangement.

This is a screened and sheathed power cable, not a messenger-supported MV aerial bundled cable. Single-core and three-core bunched forms provide different handling and route arrangements, while sheath colour and the cited fire-performance condition depend on the installation specification. Selection should identify the required form, conductor size, route, sheath colour, fire requirement, termination and joint interfaces, earthing method and delivery lengths.

Key Features

  • Class 2 aluminium conductor:A Class 2 stranded aluminium conductor provides the current-carrying core in the listed cross-sections, supporting standard cable preparation and connection practices for the specified 12/20 kV system.
  • Medium-voltage dielectric interfaces:Bonded conductor screen, XLPE insulation and grooved peelable insulation screen create the principal medium-voltage dielectric interfaces, helping installers prepare the screen at terminations using the specified method.
  • Water-tightness and metallic screen:Water-tightness powder in the screen grooves and an aluminium/PET foil screen address moisture movement and metallic-screen continuity within the product construction before the PE sheath is applied.
  • Single-core and bunched supply options:Single-core and three-core bunched supply options give the project alternative handling and route arrangements, while sheath identification helps distinguish the intended installation or connection function.

Product Applications

  • 12/20 kV connections within transformer stations and power stations where NF C 33-226 cable is specified
  • Links between overhead distribution lines and transformer equipment using coordinated terminations, metallic-screen earthing and cable support
  • Duct, direct-buried and free-air routes whose thermal, mechanical and sheath-protection design suits the selected single-core or bunched arrangement

From Production to Delivery

From raw material preparation to final shipmen, every stage is caretuly controled to ensure consistent conductor quality, reliable pertormance, and sae delivery. Our roduction,
inspection, packaging, and logistics processes are managed in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements.

cable production line with finished cable being wound onto a reel

Production

The Class 2 aluminium conductor receives its bonded screen, XLPE insulation, grooved peelable insulation screen and water-tightness material, followed by the aluminium/PET screen and specified PE outer sheath.

Cable and conductor quality inspection and testing

Inspection

Inspection checks conductor resistance and dimensions, semiconductive and insulation layers, peelability where specified, metallic screen, sheath construction and the electrical tests required by NF C 33-226 and the purchase schedule.

Packaged cable drums stored in the factory warehouse

Packaging

Cable is wound as individual single cores or prepared as the agreed three-core bunched assembly, with reels, end sealing and handling protection selected for bend limits and installation conditions.

Wooden cable drums secured inside a shipping container

Shipping

Shipping records show voltage, cross-section, core arrangement, sheath colour, length, batch and supplied accessories, enabling the receiving team to allocate drums to the intended route and termination points.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this NF C 33-226 product an aerial bundled cable?

It is a screened 12/20 kV power cable that may connect an overhead line to transformer equipment; it is not MV ABC. We keep it under the MV power-cable route in the offer and describe the screen and sheath layers clearly, helping your team choose the correct installation and termination accessories.

Yes. The cable is available either as an individual single core or as three single cores bunched together. Tell us the route space, handling method and preferred arrangement, and we will quote the selected form with conductor size, reel plan and accessories clearly identified.

The cable can be installed in ducts, direct burial or free air, subject to the project’s thermal design, mechanical protection, bending requirements, screen earthing and local installation rules. Send us the route conditions so we can align the cable construction, sheath and reel plan with the installation.

Yes, where the requested colour is available within the applicable product and project requirements. Please provide the utility colour convention and any fire-performance condition. We will record the agreed sheath colour in the quotation, production schedule and drum identification so that the delivered cable can be allocated to the intended connection or route.

Yes, they can be considered when the conductor size, insulation diameter, screen design, system voltage, earthing method and equipment interface are known. We can list the requested accessories with the cable, giving your engineering team one package to review before placing the order.

Please provide the standard edition, system voltage, conductor cross-section, single-core or bunched arrangement, installation route, sheath colour, fire-performance requirement, lengths, drum plan, accessories, destination and inspection documents. We can help organise incomplete route information into the commercial enquiry.
